Twilight is a series of four vampire-based fantasy romance novels by American author Stephenie Meyer. It charts a period in the life of Isabella “Bella” Swan, a teenage girl who moves to Forks, Washington, and falls in love with a 104-year-old vampire named Edward Cullen. The series is told primarily from Bella‘s point of view, with the epilogue of Eclipse and Part II of Breaking Dawn being told from the viewpoint of character Jacob Black, a werewolf. The unpublished Midnight Sun is a retelling of the first book, Twilight, from Edward Cullen’s point of view. The novella The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner, which tells the story of a newborn vampire who appeared in Eclipse, was published on June 5, 2010 as a hardcover book and on June 7 as a free online ebook.

Since the release of the first novel, Twilight, in 2005, the books have gained immense popularity and commercial success around the world. The series is most popular among young adults; the four books have won multiple awards, most notably the 2008 British Book Award for “Children’s Book of the Year” for Breaking Dawn, while the series as a whole won the 2009 Kids’ Choice Award for Favorite Book.

The four Twilight books have consecutively set records as the biggest selling novels of 2008 on the USA Today Best-Selling Books list and have spent over 235 weeks on the New York Times Best Seller list for Children’s Series Books.

Thus far, the first three books have been made into a series of motion pictures by Summit Entertainment; the film adaptation of Twilight was released in 2008 and the second, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, was released on November 20, 2009. The third film, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, was released June 30, 2010.

Twilight movies are a series of romance fantasy films from Summit Entertainment starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner. The series has grossed over $1,7 billion in worldwide receipts and consists, to date, of three motion pictures. The first installment Twilight was released on November 21, 2008, and the second installment, The Twilight Saga: New Moon followed on November 20, 2009, breaking box office records as the biggest midnight screening and opening day in history, when it grossed an estimated $72.7 million in its first day of release. The third installment, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse was released on June 30, 2010 and is the first Twilight film to be released in IMAX.

The series was in development since 2004 at Paramount Pictures, during which time a screen adaptation of Twilight which differed significantly from the novel was written. Three years later, Summit Entertainment acquired the rights to the film. After Twilight grossed $35.7 million on its opening day, Summit announced they would begin production on New Moon; this after they had acquired the rights to the remaining novels earlier that same month. A two-part adaptation of Breaking Dawn is projected to begin shooting late in 2010 with November 18, 2011 and November 16, 2012 release dates.

The Unpublished

However, for the book maniacs, there are more number of books, both finished & unfinished, in this best-seller The Twilight Saga series than the number which turned into movies. One of them is Midnight Sun, which is an expected companion novel to the book Twilight by author Stephenie Meyer. This book is the recitation of circumstances Twilight from the eyes of Edward Cullen as opposed to that of Bella Swan. This book was applied towards the powerful creation of Edwards Cullen’s on-screen character by Robert Pattinson.

Another such book is Forever Dawn, the original and unpublished sequel to Twilight written by Meyer for her own enjoyment. She decided not to publish this since she “pretty much passed over the rest of Bella’s high school experience entirely, skipping ahead to a time in her life with more mature themes!” The book was therefore never published, and Meyer instead gave it to her older sister as a precious birthday present.

Breaking Dawn Persona

So far, only following people have been announced to reprise their roles. The list may increase with time.

Edward Cullen, Bella Swan, Dr. Carlisle Cullen, Esme Cullen, Emmett Cullen, Jasper Hale, Alice Cullen, Rosalie Hale, Chief Charlie Swan, Jacob Black, Billy Black.

Breaking Dawn: Film Adaption

Breaking Dawn has been confirmed to split into two movies, and the financial budget will be higher than the previous movies. Bill Condon will direct both films. Filming is expected to begin in October 2010. The first movie is expected to premiere in November 18, 2011.

Since Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner were originally contracted to make four films, Summit Entertainment had to renegotiate their agreements.

It is not known whether Renesmee will be Computer-generated imagery, or if one/many actresses will portray her. There are also concerns about making a PG-13 movie adaptation, due to the book’s complex and graphic storylines, including the birth of a half-vampire, half-human baby.
